The featured artist this month is Jeremy Kleinsmith.

Jeremy was born and raised in Holmen, Wisconsin. Always having an interest in music, Jeremy was fond of the sounds and rhythms made by the drums. Starting at the age of 10 he joined the percussion section of his middle school band, then at 13 joined the high school band and was introduced to the drum kit; it was love at first tap.

He began listening to alternative rock and classic rock and was inspired by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Primus, Jimi Hendirx, Morphine and the Toadies, to name a few.

He then went to play drums for his high school jazz band, marching band, concert band, vocal jazz, and show choir, traveling all over North America to perform and compete in many states.

In college he played for two years for the blues group, the Sugar Daddies, from LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

In August of 1999 he transferred to Moscow, Idaho, to earn his degree in Rangeland Ecology.

He and some college friends started a couple garage bands called Junkduster and Tinkering with Mitch.

After college he followed his girlfriend, now wife, to northern Idaho, where he met a couple guys in Sandpoint who were looking for people to play with.

Together they formed the band Tennis.

Six years later, Tennis has become one of Sandpoint's most popular dance bands.

Their highest achievement thus far was being invited to be the first musical act for the 2010 Sandpoint Festival, opening for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

These days Jeremy is busy with his career, wife and 15 month-old, but can occasionally get out and play a night or two.
