Moyie Springs proposes new comp plan

February 6, 2013
The Moyie Springs City Council has developed a proposed comprehensive land use plan, and they're asking people in the city to take a look and offer their comments.

Under Idaho Code, all cities and counties in the state are required to develop a comprehensive plan to look at resources and set goals for land use planning. Based on the goals established, land use laws are then developed to regulate and direct growth to meet those goals.

The plan looks at several different areas, from housing and the local economy to population and agriculture, assessing current conditions and outlooks.

No formal public hearings on the proposed plan have yet been set, which are required before the plan is formally adopted; the city council is only at the beginning stage of the process and seeking comments and suggestions.

According to city attorney Dan Featherston, the process could take around six months before the council officially adopts the plan.

The proposed plan is available at Moyie Springs City Hall, or by clicking here.
