Valley View dessert auction raises funds for bleachers

Valley View Elementary School's annual Learning Fair / Dessert Auction / Free Dinner was held Thursday night, May 22, in hopes of raising money towards new bleachers for the Valley View gymnasium. Thanks to a very impressive 88 different and delicious desserts donated by parents and community members, $2,200 was collected at the auction. Panhandle State Bank is matching $1000 as part of their Matching Funds Community Outreach Program, so the total raised was $3,200. Debbie Pauls' Huckleberry cheesecake recorded the highest bid of $75. Along with the dessert auction, the PTO provided a free dinner that fed over 300 people. So far the PTO has raised around $18,000 for the new bleachers. Those interested in donating further toward this project may contact Angela Hittle, Valley View PTO President.
