North Idaho weather warning issued
February 16, 2018
A winter storm warning has been issued for Boundary and Bonner Counties and the northern tip of Kootenai County, in effect from 4 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Heavy snow is expected, with eight to 16 inches of new snow in the valleys and as much as three feet at higher elevations.

Intermittent mostly light snow is expected through today and into Saturday, increasing in intensity Saturday afternoon and evening. The snow is expected to ease up on Sunday, but winds gusting from 30 to to 35 miles per hour will make travel stay extremely difficult.

Snow and wind could also topple trees, blocking roads and taking down power lines, resulting in possible power outages.

Travel is not advised through the warning time frame. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check the latest road conditions by calling 511.
