Tribe seeking wildlife tech |

The Kootenai Tribe of Idaho is seeking to hire a
wildlife technician, responsible for assisting
in all phases of wildlife habitat restoration
and conservation.
The deadline for applications is 4 p.m.
Wednesday, March 7. Native American preference
will be exercised.
Duties will include assisting with tree/shrub
gathering and planting, wildlife and plant
surveys, fence maintenance, wood work, farm
equipment and power tool operation and a wide
range of duties in the office, such as computer
data entry, maintaining equipment and field
gear, GPS point mapping and more.
Fieldwork will be performed from a truck,
all-terrain vehicles, farm equipment, boat or on
foot in the Kootenai Tribal aboriginal
territory. The Wildlife Technician must be able
to perform work during poor weather conditions
and in rough, mountainous terrain, be able to
lift 50 pounds and be available to work early
mornings, nights and weekends as needed.
Experience identifying bird species and
operating boats preferred. Applicants must be
able to complete required training and work well
with others.
The successful applicant must have a valid
drivers license and a high school diploma or
equivalent. Must have a strong commitment to
work 40 hours per week, to include nights,
weekends and holidays, be able to pass drug and
alcohol screenings and be insurable under the
tribe's auto insurance policy.
The position starts at $10 per hour and goes to
$11 after a successful three-month probation
period.
