Traveling arts exhibit coming to Boundary County

The ArtsGrowLearning Traveling Art Exhibit is going to be making a stop in Boundary County for two weeks! The Idaho Commission on the Arts partnered with venues across the state to present ArtsGrowLearning, a touring presentation showcasing student visual art, dance, creative writing/storytelling and media arts created through Idaho’s ArtsPowered Schools program. This engaging, vibrant exhibit will be at the Boundary County Museum September 11 through September 23 and it's free and open to the public. The exhibit will travel to the Columbia Bank Building in Sandpoint for the weeks of September 25 and October 2. Both Naples and Valley View Elementary Schools received grants from the Idaho Commission on the Arts. "This was a huge opportunity to bring art specialists to the classrooms of our students," said Robin Merrifield, School District 101 director of curriculum. "This beautiful traveling exhibit should not be missed! It will travel throughout the state for the next year. The works featured include those of our own Boundary County students!" ArtsPowered Schools fosters dynamic and meaningful collaboration between classroom teachers and artists that culminate in artist residencies in schools across Idaho. This presentation highlights the depth and relevance of arts learning for students and teachers, and celebrates the creative energy and expertise of Idaho’s artists. Professionally presented visual artworks, interpretive text, photographs and video vividly tell the story of ArtsPowered Schools residencies during the 2016-2017 school year.
