Moyie Springs to become Idaho's Capitol for a
Day—today |
March 16, 2018 |
Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter will be in Boundary
County on Friday, March 16, as Moyie Springs
hosts his 100th "Capital for a Day."
Governor Otter brings State government to
Idahoans living outside Boise each month by
making a different town in Idaho the state’s
“Capital for a Day.” The honor falls this month
to Moyie Springs. The meetings provide local
residents an opportunity to have open
discussions about government issues and public
policy with Governor Otter, members of his
Cabinet and other senior State officials.
The Capital for a Day on March 16th is scheduled
from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Moyie Springs
City Hall, 3331 Roosevelt Road in Moyie Springs.
The City of Moyie Springs will host a midday
luncheon, open to the public, at the same
location.
State officials joining Governor Otter include
First Lady Lori Otter, Lieutenant Governor Brad
Little, State Department of Agriculture Director
Celia Gould, Department of Environmental Quality
Director John Tippets, Department of Lands
Director David Groeschl, Department of Fish and
Game Director Virgil Moore, Fish and Game
Commissioner Brad Corkill, and Public Utilities
Commissioner Eric Anderson. The departments of
Health and Welfare, Water Resources, Parks and
Recreation, Transportation, the Idaho State
Police and the Division of Veterans Services
also will have senior representatives on hand to
field questions.
“My first Capital for a Day as Governor was
January 2007 in Bonners Ferry. It’s fitting that
Boundary County also should host my 100th
Capital for a Day,” Governor Otter said. “You
can’t get much further away from Boise than
Moyie Springs and still be in Idaho! But the
kinds of issues facing this rural area are much
the same as in communities throughout our state,
from Mud Lake to Marsing and Pocatello to
Porthill. My Cabinet members and I look forward
to hearing from the folks who know the area best
about the issues that matter most to them."
