The Health Fair is held at the hospital, and there are plenty of activities at the Community

noon hours of operation. Those activities
include:
• Family Fun Run (or Walk)
• Free health care screenings
• Public tours of the new Diagnostic Imaging
equipment and your opportunity to personally
inspect a Life Flight helicopter and equipment
and vehicles from Boundary Ambulance
• Opportunity to learn about health care
resources available in our community, including
elder care, social services, options for in-home
health care, and more
• Exhibit area with over 60 vendors and
exhibitors of health-care-related products,
services, and resources
• Special areas where information is available
on Time Sensitive Emergencies (such as heart
attacks, stroke, and trauma), Advance
Directives, and Emergency Preparedness
• Vegetable starters and flowers available for
purchase to help support the Extended Care
Facility
• And, new this year, a Mountain Trail Safety
Clinic
Here are a few details on some of these
activities:
The Health Fair kicks off bright and early on
May 12 with
the Family Fun Run. Check-ins for the Fun Run
begin at 7:00 a.m., with the Run starting at
8:00 a.m. Pre-registration for the run opens on
May 1 and goes through May 10—watch for
registration forms on the hospital website at
www.boundarycommunityhospital.org, or available
at the Outpatient Clinic at the hospital (the
Comanche Street entrance at the back of the
hospital). On-site registration the day of the
Run will also be available. The Family Fun Run
(or Walk) features distances of 3K, 5K and 10K.
Registration for the Run is free of charge. Commemorative
T-shirts will be available for sale, with free
T-shirts going to the first 70 registrants.
The free Health Care Screenings that will be
offered include blood pressure checks, blood
sugar testing, a coupon for free Hemoglobin A1c
testing (a test for diabetes), a coupon for free
cholesterol testing, hearing screening, mobility
screening for all ages by the hospital’s
Physical and Occupational therapists, and
Nutrition Counseling.
For
the first time, the Health Fair is offering a
Mountain Trail Safety Clinic. This event is
sponsored by Boundary Community Clinics, and
will have guest speakers and presentations on
Boundary County hiking, riding, mountain
bike trails, first aid, hygiene, mountain bike
repair, and more. Several community groups will
be participating, including the Boundary County
Trails Committee, Boundary County Search and
Rescue, the U.S. Forest Service, Far North
Outfitters, Canine Companions for Independence,
the Boundary County Orchard Restoration Project,
and other groups.
As you can see, this year’s Community Health
Fair is packed with activities and information.
Mark the day on your calendar: May 12, at
Boundary Community Hospital, three
hours only, from 9:00 til noon.
