Wendell Wayne Dendurent, 63, passed away at his Bonners Ferry area home April 8, 2011.

 

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 10 a.m.  at the Church of Christ, Bonners Ferry.

 

Wendell was born on February 6, 1948, to Walt and Pauline Dendurent in Pasco, Washington. He attended Pasco Schools and graduated in 1966. He joined the U.S. Marines in July of 1966 and served in Vietnam, where he received a purple heart. He transferred to MCB Cam Pew, California Reserves.

 

After returning from the Marines, Wendell worked for the Automobile Association of America in Simi Valley, California, for 32 years. He met and married his wife, Carol,  August 8, 1981.

 

Wendell volunteered at the Ronald Reagan Library and was pleased to have the same birth date as President Reagan (February 6).

 

Many Dendurent reunions were enjoyed by Wendell, and he and his wife were hosts to immediate family for the Summer Olympics in 1984 in Los Angeles, California.

 

He was a designated driver at the Last Chance Saloon for six years, and enjoyed his retirement in Bonners Ferry.

 

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bill and Warren.

 

He is survived by his wife, Carol; son Sam and wife Christine; daughters Susan Wagner and husband Darren and Sherry Russell and husband Randy; sister Waleta Michael, Pasco, Washington; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends of this area.

 

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
