Betty Jean Tashoff, 89, passed away on March 31, 2013, at Boundary Community Hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Free Methodist Church in Bonners Ferry.

Betty was born on August 12, 1923, in South Bend, Indiana, to Harvey Bernel, Sr. and Gertrude Lillian (Baugher) Gordon. She received her education in Edwardsburg, Michigan.

Betty has resided along Old Hwy 2 near Moyie Springs since 1964, also briefly living in Arizona and Montana. Betty spent her early years in Edwardsburg, Michigan. She married Bill Tashoff on October 23, 1971, in Newport, Washington.

Betty especially loved working with the children at Evergreen Elementary School in Moyie Springs. She loved keeping house and proved that cast iron skillets were made for Elk Steak and Idaho potatoes!

Though a hunter with Bill, she had a passion for all of God’s wildlife, especially the deer she fed in her back yard. Betty had a special heart-warmed love for the many dozens of relatives and friends that she had every where she lived over her 89 years.

Great love is also shared with the late Reverend Clifford Utter and current minister Reverend Wade Pardum of the Boundary County Church of Christ and its entire congregation! The same is shared with Reverend Lowell Carlson of the Free Methodist Church and its entire congregation.

Senior companions Sue Richardson and all those in Betty’s later life and her affectionate friends she loved so much, as Becca and all those who helped her maintain the pride she had in her home that she kept for Bill for 41 years.

Survivors include by her husband of 41 years Bill Tashoff; son Mark Bame and wife Rhonda of Oldtown;  Linda Kuhlman and husband Ron of Coeur d’Alene; Brother Harvey Gordon Jr. and wife Marge of Moyie Springs, brother-in-law Phil Tashoff and wife Marie, also of Moyie Springs, daughter-in-law Betty Bame of Vancouver, Washington; grand-children Jeffery Steven Bame, Wendy Kay (Bame) Meyer, Dean Meyer, Darrin Jordan, Gregg Jordan, Nathan Williams and wife, Dustin Bame and wife Lorana, Crystal Whalin and Husband Jason, and Brandon(BJ) Bame, and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
