Badgers pound Rams in doubleheader
Dunham pitches first No Hitter of the season

The Badger baseball team traveled to Spokane on Thursday, April 7, and swept the Riverside Rams behind Jesse Dunham’s first no hitter of the season and 37 total hits in the two games.

GAME 1 – BONNERS FERRY 19, RIVERSIDE 0 (5 innings)

Junior Jesse Dunham pitched a no hitter and the Badger bats came alive getting 20 hits including two doubles, six triples and a monster three run home run from senior Caleb Gering in a 19-0 romp.

The Badgers scored in every inning and every player got a hit on the team. Senior Vince Bennett led the team going 5 for 5 with two triples, three RBI and three runs scored while sophomore Brady Bateman went 4 for 4, two triples, three RBI and five runs scored. Dunham also helped his cause by knocking in five runs going 3 for 4 with a double and triple.

GAME 2 – BONNERS FERRY 14, RIVERSIDE 7

The Badgers took game 2 behind junior pitcher Kevin Gray’s efficient pitching and 17 hits from the Badger bats. Gering added to his home run total by blasting another three run home run in game two and a total of seven RBI in the game.

Bennett continued his torrid hitting, banging another four hits including a double in the 14 – 7 win. Again, every player got a hit for the team and the top four hitters combined going 11 for 18.

The Badgers held a 10-0 lead in the top of the 5th inning but could not nail down the win early as the Rams scored 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning. Gering’s three-run blast came in the 7th inning.

The Badgers improved their overall record to 8-2 and travel to Colville, Washington to take on Colville and Trail, BC. League play starts Saturday, April 16 at home against rival Priest River. We encourage as many fans to show up and support the Badgers as they defend their 2015 League Title. First game starts at 11:00 a.m.
