About Run for the Fallen Idaho:

In 2011, motivated by the loss of their son and brother, the family of Sgt. Joshua J Kirk organized Idaho’s first participation in the national Run for the Fallen memorial run. 156 participants walked and ran 362 miles on August 20, 2011. The 2011 event also hosted 12 Gold Star families who traveled from Boise, Coeur D’Alene, Twin Falls, Seattle, Washington and Fort Myers, Florida.

Kirk’s sister, Jessica Tingley’s vision for the event was to move it each year to a different fallen heroes’ hometown, so that all Idaho residents would have an opportunity to honor and remember their hometown heroes. The second annual Run for the Fallen Memorial Run is being held in Post Falls, Idaho, the hometown of several heroes, including Spc. Matthew Holley, SSGT Darren Van Komen, and Spc Robert Benson.
