Need to pass school M&O Levy
March 1, 2017
By Dennis Weed
Director, Boundary Economic Development Council

Our community has another great opportunity to show support for our schools on March 14. Boundary County school administration, teachers and support staff do an outstanding job in educating our students for the next working generation.

Industries and companies continue to change and evolve into high tech equipment. Our support of our schools ensures that we have the classes needed to teach all of the required skills that companies require for manufacturing their products. The support for our schools is vital for our employers who need the required skills to run and operate high-tech equipment.

Employers in North Idaho continue to voice their concerns to me that they need employees with the skills to match their manufacturing capabilities and products they produce. We have a great school district in our County where so much is provided with so little funds.

Our support of our schools is necessary for attracting businesses that will provide the higher earning jobs to our residents.

The levy on the ballot this year is not an increase over the current levy passed two years ago.

With the passage of this levy, Boundary County will continue to be below the Idaho state average per pupil in spending. I am continually amazed at the job our staff does to educate our students with the funds they receive.

My hope is that we will continue to show our support for our schools by passing this year’s levy.
