BCMS gearing up for second semester
January 17, 2018
By Principal David Miles II

I would first like to thank our citizens of the month. For November -- Citizenship -- BCMS selected: Kaelynn Baisden, sixth, Blake Rice, seventh, Leah Webster, eighth, and Jessica Hanna, staff. For December -- Generosity -- BCMS selected Markynn Pluid, sixth, Evelyn Chaney, seventh, Brena Gould, eighth, and Rita Vannoy, staff. These folks showed tremendous citizenship and generosity!

We are getting ready to announce our January winners, so stay tuned.

If you haven’t heard, our wrestling team did amazing at districts and was able to bring home the championship as well as several individual medals and championships. Several students also competed in the Idaho Middle School Championships and represented Boundary County Middle School well.

Our First Lego League Robotics team also did very well at the regional competition hosted by BCMS. Both teams qualified to go on to the state competition in Moscow. It was amazing to see their creativity and team work. Wish them well at their next competition!

Basketball is now in session and we are looking forward to our first games. BCMS recently created a pep club to help cheer on our athletes, so be sure to check schedules and come support both our athletes and our school.

The end of the semester is soon! The grades for all students will be finalized and permanently reported on January 26 and we will begin a new semester with all grades resetting at that time. We will be hosting student led conferences February 5-6.

To reward those students who have been actively keeping up with their grades and behavior, we will be having an activity day on January 25 during the last hour of the day. There will be several activities available to eligible students during this time and ineligible students will serve some time catching up on schoolwork.

BCMS will be hosting a geography bee on Monday, January 29 from 11:45 a.m. to about 1:15 p.m. or so. All are welcome to come and quietly watch students compete in their knowledge about the world.

We will also be hosting an immunization clinic sponsored by Panhandle Health on February 8.

In preparation for our final basketball games and tournament, we will have a pep assembly from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday,  February 15.

We will also have a Valentine Day Dance from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, February 15.

Our annual basketball tournament will take place February 16-7. Be sure to come and check out all the action and cheer on our teams to victory!
