Rockey getting back to his inimitable self
January 11, 2017
According to his sister, Teresa Becker, Rockey Burkholder is doing much better today. His speech, she posted on Facebook, is much more coherent and structured, his appetite is great and he's continually trying to set up the female and male nurses with each other, complimenting all the ladies.

He's coming back!

Rockey is still having trouble walking and has some problems with the heels of his feet due to restricted blood flow from laying flat on his back with heels not moving for up to 12-hours on the hard kitchen floor, and will have to be in a rehab facility for a few days to a few weeks.

Boundary Community Hospital has room for Rockey, which is his family's first choice as a) BCH staff knows Rockey so well, b) mom Valdie can visit, and c) his hometown friends can visit.

The family was told by Rockey's doctor that what caused this whole cascade of events is Rockey have viral or bacterial enteritis that became viral encephalitis, which caused Rockey to faint and hit his head, causing further problems.

The family thanks God it wasn't a stroke, and they send out thanks to all who have offered to or are giving their family a helping hand.

"Thanks for all of your prayers and warm wishes," Teresa wrote. "Thank you Lord Jesus."
