Shirley Winifred Weber

January 10, 1942 ~ August 22, 2012
August 24, 2012
Shirley Winifred Weber, 70, passed away at home on August 22, 2012, in Bonners Ferry. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 1, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry with Father Carlos Perez and Deacon Joseph Nicholas officiating.

Shirley was born January 10, 1942, in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Carr) Merth. She was the second of nine children and was endowed with a caring personality and a wonderful sense of humor.

Shirley knew at age 10 that her mission in life was to care for others as a nurse. She graduated from the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Marshfield, Wisconsin, in 1963. Over a career of 37 years, Shirley touched countless lives by providing passionate care, infused with laughter, as a registered nurse in the Wisconsin communities of New Richmond, Superior, Manitowoc, St. Croix Falls, Crandon and Rhinelander.

Shirley was united in marriage on June 6, 1964, to Jerry Weber at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. Most of their married life was spent in the Wisconsin communities of St. Croix Falls and Crandon, where they raised two sons. With a lifelong love of the mountains and nature, they relocated from Wisconsin in 2005 to spend their retirement years in idyllic Paradise Valley located near the northern Idaho panhandle village of Bonners Ferry.

Shirley was a volunteer for the past seven years at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry where she joyfully served to bring musical cheer to the residents at the Boundary County Community Restorium, supported the Thanksgiving and Christmas basket programs and more.

Shirley will be remembered for her zest for life and for the beauty she possessed both inside and out. Her love of nature and music lives on with her children and grandchildren. The joy of her laughter remains in the hearts and memories of all whom she touched.

She is survived by her husband Jerry; sons Mark (Patti) and Matt (Denise); and grandchildren Michael, Bradley, Matthew and Alexandra. Also her mother Frances Merth; four sisters Betty (Stan), Peggy (Dick), Mary Kay (Ric) and Karen (Jim); and four brothers Tom, Jim (Nada), Pat (Pauline) and Mike (Sondy). Further survived by a large, extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and other loved ones.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Frank Merth.
