November 26, 2016
Johnnie Allen Cook, 72, passed away November 22 at his home in Naples. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, at United Methodist Church, 6568 Lincoln Street, Bonners Ferry.

He was born April 20, 1945, to Bud and Bonnie Cook. He was the fourth out of seven children.

He grew up at McArthur. He had to work on the homestead. He loved to be outdoors. He spent his free time with Jack Flinn and Dave Yount, doing what boys do.

He went to Naples Elementary. He went to Bonners Ferry High School for a couple years. He was a great basketball player. He did not like to lose. He hated school.

Johnnie married Dena Maggi July 15, 1967. He became an instant father to Teresa Rochelle. Together they had a son, Jason Duane. Jason passed away in a boating accident July 11, 1998.

Johnnie and Dena started their married life in Troy, Montana, working at the Forest Service. He couldn’t wait to quit the Forest Service. They moved to Naples, where they stayed for 49 years and went to work for the Naples Mill briefly and started his life in the woods with Sage and McCalmant and finished with Beloit Mendenhall and Day Logging. As a faller, he worked for many local loggers and covered many mountain ranges. Many happy memories for Johnnie and many brush fits with fits in between. The woods is where he wanted to be. He finally quit when he was 71.

Family time was spent driving around in the mountains, horses, hunting and, visiting family.

His passions were the outdoors, logging, hunting, fishing, hiking and horses.

He has three cats, Ma, Tommy, Sissy and a dog, Jonesy that he treated like his children.

He loved it when his family visited, especially the grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He appreciated his friends who came to visit. He loved his family. He may of never told them but he told others.

Johnnie was proceeded in death by parents Bud and Bonnie Cook, son Jason Cook and sister Patsy Ramsay.

He is survived by wife Dena Cook, daughter Teresa and Paul Bond, daughter-in-law Laresa (Cook) Cossairt, granddaughters Racheal and Nick Kerfoot, Ashley and Derek Ennis, Marissa Bond and Brianna Cook, grandsons Michael Bond and Jacob Cook, and great-granddaughters Bailey, Olivia, and Chloe Kerfoot.
