What's happening at BFHS!
January 26, 2017
Mr. Knaggs scheduled snow sculpting was cancelled on account of snow days and finals, local artist Lee Harris was on call to help our young sculptors bring their ideas to life in the third dimension. Reschedule is in the works, pending snowfall.

Mr. Knaggs also mentioned that there is not enough space in this news site to praise the steps the district and us have taken in the past six months towards building relationships and working together for the betterment of BCSD 101.

Big thanks go out to all of our members for continuing to give themselves to the youth of the 9B, as well as Mr. Pflueger his staff, and admin team for fostering care and making this school district the best that it can be.

Mr. Nix said that the BFHS Robotics team is in the third week of their six week build season. Students have determined their strategy for this year’s game called "Steamworks," designed, prototyped and tested manipulators and have begun assembling their competition robot.

The team's media wing has been hard at work applying for grants, writing articles, and updating social media, while the programming team is successfully implementing vision tracking and gyroscopic controls coding. Look for "Alpha+ 2130" on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for daily updates.

Ms. Ireland is very proud of the improvement her sophomores have made this year.

Mr. Omodt let us know that Mary Fioravanti placed fourth in the Idaho State VFW Voice of Democracy essay contest. She traveled south to Boise with her dad to participate in the awards ceremony.

Mr. Nix stated that American Government and AP Government students are showing up to class engaged and curious about what is going on in our democratic republic.

Ms. Garner was heard saying that Andrew Clarkson finished his bench and will be taking it home.

We saw Mrs. Smith talking to four students who are applying for their State FFA Degree.

Mrs. Nix mentioned The Writer's Block literary magazine is gearing up for its second edition in a few weeks and will feature not only student writing, but also several amazing pieces from our advanced art students.

We heard that Mr. Depriest and the auto shop students were able to revive a 1948 Willy’s Jeep that had not been running for 25 years by going through the starting, charging, ignition, lubrication and cooling systems.

We have seen the BFHS Band working hard to raise funds for their trip to Edmonton and is looking forward to the Large Group Festival in Coeur d'Alene and solo and ensemble at Post Falls High School.
