Five Badgers All-IML, Orofino spanked

The Bonners Ferry Boys’ soccer team defeated Orofino 8-0 Saturday in the first round of the District I-II playoffs at Lakeland High School. With the win the Badgers’ advance to the title game at 4 p.m. Thursday, facing the St. Maries Lumberjacks, who eliminated Priest River 6-0 in the other contest.

Junior forward Victor Mendez recorded a hat trick for the Badgers, while senior midfielder Keaton Tremble and junior forward Jesus Mendez tallied one goal and two assists apiece as Bonners Ferry jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead, then scored five more goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half before easing off the throttle in the later stages of the game.

Senior Noah Price and sophomores Steffen Robles and Chase Dinning also found the back of the net for the Badgers, while senior goalkeeper Garrett Skeen made four saves, recording his fourth shutout of the season.

The Badgers outshot the Maniacs 24-6.

Led by co-MVP senior Keaton Tremble, the Bonners Ferry Boys Soccer Team placed five of its members on the 11-player Intermountain All-League team announced Saturday at the District tournament at Lakeland High School.

Joining Tremble on the team were Badger seniors Evan Moe and Garrett Skeen, junior Cameron Woods, and freshman Jake Tremble.
