GROW thanks community
September 2, 2016
Gardeners for Regional Organic Wellbeing — GROW! — thank all the supporters including so many members of the Bonners Ferry community as well as from surrounding towns and Montana who bought tickets for our recent raffle which raised over $900 to fund ongoing operations.

GROW! provides plots for residents to garden organically in the community garden on Buchanan Street in Bonners Ferry. Recently, GROW! received a grant from Bonners Ferry Rotary to help with the cost of building three raised beds for those who are unable to garden at ground level. Additionally, GROW! provides organic vegetables to the local Food Bank every growing season.

Individuals and businesses who donated items, services or gift certificates for raffle prizes include Steve Jamsa, Home Depot, Deanna Lauber, Rona Hall, Krissy King, Keith Snider, Ree Brannon, Marciavee Cossette, Denise Thompson and Jerry Pavia. GROW! also thanks Akins Harvest Foods, Super 1, Yoders, Pro X, and 3 Mile Cafe and Truck Stop for providing space for raffle ticket sales.

Emma Grace Robertson picked the winning ticket, and Deb Foster checked the winner’s name at the Boundary Community Hospital Health Fair in May. Pam Barton was the lucky winner of the raffle, which included a chest freezer and many other prizes.

A Farm to Table Local Gourmet 5-Course Feast fund raiser is set for October 15, 6:00 at the fairgrounds. A raffle and silent auction will also be held to raise funds for GROW! expenses. Tickets are $40 per person and they're available at Bonners Books, by calling (509) 432-5755 or online by clicking here.

GROW’s upcoming meetings are at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, and at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, both at the U of I Extension Office, 6447 Kootenai Street, Bonners Ferry. All are welcome!
