What's happening at BCMS

December 4, 2013
By Principal David Miles II

Sixth grade electives at Boundary County Middle School have rotated. All sixth graders have an elective class at the end of the day. Those who are in band stay in band all year, but the other three groups (PE, Art, Health) have now rotated after spending the first third of the year in another elective.

It's cold but BCMS students still go outside for social time/lunch recess! Please make sure your children have proper clothing to accommodate this! Thank you.

Please thank our students for raising $1,085.33 for the Wounded Warrior Project. Students voluntarily participated in a “Penny War” event

Congratulations to Ryne Rae for receiving “Honorable Mention” recognition in the Idaho Forest Products Commission Essay Contest. You can find out more here: http://www.idahoforests.org/essay_winners.htm.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) tutoring will be available soon. Thanks to a grant for Gear-Up, we will soon offer tutoring two nights a week. The tutoring will primarily focus on eighth grade STEM, but will also be available to help others as practical.

Students in need? We have a collection of hygiene items for those students who are in need of them. The efforts of the Coalition for Children and Families Phoenix Project will be providing these items via our school. If you are in need of such items, or know of others who are in need, please contact a teacher, principal, or counselor at BCMS to access these items.

BCMS students will be performing a Holiday Concert at 10 a.m. at the high school auditorium December 13.

BCMS students will be competing in a school wide Geography Bee on December 18. This is sponsored by National Geographic and winners have the potential to go to Boise and compete at a higher level.

To accompany the activity day planned for December 19 (the last day before winter break), the student council has planned a dodgeball tournament. Permission slips must be signed and turned in to the office before anyone can play.

ACT testing for eighth graders will be on January 15. This is part of the Gear Up Program.
