Road work to begin on 95 near Athol

Construction has resumed on the reconstruction
of U.S. 95 from Athol to Granite, the Idaho
Transportation Department announced. The U.S. 95
work is expected to finish by October.
Crews are placing aggregate base on the
remaining roadway grade constructed last fall,
and will begin paving the new northbound lanes
in early May as weather allows. Around the
middle of May, U.S. 95 traffic will shift to the
new northbound lanes so the contractor can
finish work on the southbound lanes. Work on
constructing the east (North Williams Lane) and
west (Blair Castle) frontage roads also will be
performed during this time.
Minor delays are anticipated for traffic
throughout the construction season. The speed
limit is reduced to 45 mph throughout the
project, with flaggers available to guide
traffic as necessary.
Idaho 54 also has been narrowed to two lanes,
allowing for connection to the new Athol
interchange ramps.
Scarsella Brothers Inc., of Kent, Wash., is the
contractor on this $21 million project. |
