Kindergarten registration at Valley View on May 9

May 8, 2014
If you have a new kindergartener going to Valley View Elementary this fall, Friday, May 9 is the day to get them registered.

Children registering for kindergarten at Valley View Elementary School will receive a free book as part of the “Get a Jump Start on Reading @ Your Library” program.
The Boundary County Library and the Valley View Library will be hosting an informational display at kindergarten registration on May 9th from 12:00 to 4pm at Valley View Elementary School. Children who register for school will receive a free book, Look Out Kindergarten, Here I come! by Nancy Carlson. Parents will get a folder of early literacy information and activities along with library information.

“We want children entering school to have early literacy experiences and access to books,” said children’s librarian Julie Colson. “Libraries have the tools parents need to give their child a jump start on reading – books, great early learning programs, librarians with early literacy expertise, and other fun learning materials.”

The Boundary County Library will also be hosting a Summer Reading program, called Fizz, Boom, READ!, beginning June 18th through August 1st. Valley View Library is partnering with them and will also be open every Thursday from 11:00am to 2:00pm starting June 19th through July 31st.

These programs are sponsored by Valley View Library, Boundary County Library, Read to Me (a service of the Idaho Commission for Libraries), in part through a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services) and Idaho Reads! VISTA AmeriCorps.
