Parker Ridge fire update, August 2 |

Boundary County's Parker Ridge Fire, located in
northern Boundary County on the west side,
continues to burn at current size of 76 acres,
with 0% containment so far.
Fire officials indicate that, with moderate fire
activity, the wildfire grew by approximately 10
acres yesterday. Presently, minimal fire
movement is expected.
Early this morning (August 2), command of the
fire was transferred to the Arizona Type 3
Centeral West Zone IMT. At this time, this team
will focus on assessing the fire. Air resources
will support this mission by scouting the area
and locating places to hold the fire such as
clear cuts or other open features on the
landscape.
A reminder that Parker Ridge Trail #221 is
currently closed due to the fire.
Fire officials are reporting that the smoky
conditions that can be observed throughout our
area today are not a result of the Parker Ridge
Fire. Instead, they say that most of the smoke
is from heavy fire activity in Eastern
Washington and Canada.
Firefighters are currently battling three
significant fires in Eastern Washington. These
include the Blue Creek Fire of 6,004 acres in
Walla Walla County on the Washington / Oregon
border, the Long Lake Fire of 432 acres in
Spokane County, and the North Boulder 2 Fire in
Ferry County near the Canadian border at 233
acres.
In Canada, the St. Mary Alpine Park Fire near
Kimberley, British Columbia, currently at
approximately 445 acres, continues to burn with
0% containment. The Sawyer Creek Fire, also
burning in Southeast British Columbia, is
currently at 173 acres. Many other Southeastern
British Columbia fires continue to be active. |
