Dazzling Night of Nativities and Carols coming in 2 weeks
November 20, 2015
Last year, at the first-ever Night of Nativities and Carols in Boundary County, over 130 Christmas nativity scenes were on display in a beautifully-decorated Christmas atmosphere. Visitors to the evening's open house wandered in and out, admiring a variety of nativity scenes people had loaned for display that evening.

The nativity scenes at last year's event were beautifully displayed on tables surrounded with Christmas lights, greenery, and lovely, detailed, and very large Christmas-themed mural backdrops painted by local artist Kathy Taylor. Several of the nativity sets were from other countries, including Germany, Jordan, Israel, and others, including one from Uganda.

Throughout the evening, musical performances entertained those attending. Performers switched every 15-30 minutes, including vocalists, a harpist, musical groups from the high school, and others.

This year, the Second Annual Night of Nativities and Carols is gearing for even more nativity scenes to be on display--a lot more, as more people learn about the annual holiday season display, and how well-received it was last year.

"Last year was amazing, and we are excited for this opportunity to remember the reason for the Christmas season," said Lisa Carle, chief organizer of the event.

This year's Night of Nativities and Carols is coming up in about two weeks, scheduled for two nights. Stop by to see the anticipated hundreds of nativity scenes on either Friday, December 4 (from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m.), or Saturday, December 5 (from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.). Musical performances are again planned for the evening.

This is an open house format. Those who attend are free to wander around enjoying the nativity scenes, drop by to listen to the music, perhaps grab some refreshments, and continue wandering. There is no set or fixed program.

The event will be held in the large cultural hall area of the LDS Church on Alderson Lane in Bonners Ferry. If you have a nativity scene you would like to display at the event, it can be submitted on Wednesday, December 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., or on Thursday, December 3 from 10:00 until 8:00 p.m.

If you would like to participate in the musical performances with your talent, contact Melissa Wilhite at 208-821-8354.
