Kramer wins Primary vote, but Boundary County
Sheriff race may not be over yet |

The race to be the next Sheriff of Boundary
County may not be over just yet.
Ordinarily, if a Democratic or a Republican
candidate wins the mid-year primary election,
and has no opponent from the other party to
challenge them in the November General election,
it is generally a given they will be running
unopposed for a likely victory in the November
election.
There may possibly be a quirk thrown into that
scenario in what has been this year's high
profile race for Boundary County Sheriff.
Three candidates from the Republican Party were
seeking the position of Sheriff in Tuesday's
primary, including incumbent Sheriff Greg
Sprungl, and challengers Dave Schuman and Dave
Kramer.
Mr. Kramer emerged as the winner of the primary,
and as no Democratic candidate nor any other
candidate had filed to run in the primary, it
looked like Mr. Kramer was set to be the next
Boundary County Sheriff following November's
election.
But the contest may not be completely over.
Candidate Dave Schuman is considering the
possibility of continuing his campaign as a
write-in candidate for the November election.
"There are a number of people that are trying to
persuade me to pursue a write in campaign," said
Mr. Schuman in an e-mail to supporters. He plans
to have a meeting next week with those
supporters, to look at the possibility of such a
campaign.
"The least I can do is listen to and see if we
could come up with a plan," added Mr. Schuman in
his e-mail. "Based on the amount of people that
show up and what we decide, we will go from
there." |
