Missing hunter found safe |

A local hunter was found safe this morning,
walking out on his own after spending a chilly
night in the woods off Giles Connection Cutoff.
Thomas Dyott, 58, was reported missing by his
wife Saturday evening, who expressed concerns
that her husband had medical issues.
Dyott's pickup was located be sheriff's deputies
near midnight about three miles up Giles
Connection not far from the Camp Nine Road
intersection, and personnel from Boundary Search
and Dive Rescue, Boundary Volunteer Ambulance
and North Bench Fire were called out at 12:07
a.m. to begin the search over rough and swampy
terrain.
At about 3:18 a.m., a rescue helicopter from Two
Bear Air, Whitefish, Montana, joined the search,
and the Air Force Search and Rescue Unit,
Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, was
gearing up to join in as well.
At about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, a call went out for
all available Boundary County firefighters to
join in the search, and personnel from
throughout the county interrupted their Sunday
mornings to respond.
At about 9:30 a.m. a sheriff's deputy spotted
Dyott walking down the road toward where he'd
parked his truck. Dyott was tired and suffered a
broken finger, but was otherwise in good shape,
and refused medical treatment.
Within minutes, a sheriff's dispatcher notified
his worried wife that her husband was safe. |
