Patricia Josephine Youngwirth

Patricia “Patsy” Josephine Youngwirth,72, went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2013, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene. A Vigil Service was held Friday, May 3, at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, May 4, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry. Interment followed at Grandview Cemetery.

Patsy was born on September 15, 1940, in Denver, Colorado, to Felix and Clorinda Abeyta, where she was raised with her four sisters; Lucy Jensen, Linda Lopez, Reina Hedding and Judy Dillin, and three brothers; Roger, David and Larry Abeyta.

As a young girl, Patsy was always playing outside with all the animals she could get her hands on. At the age of 16, she was crowned the national Queen for the American GI Forum and traveled all over accompanied by her sister Lucy. At the age of 18 Patsy belonged to a Spanish Dance Troop and was a beautiful and very talented Spanish dancer and had several offers to dance professionally.

In 1961 she met the love of her life, Michael Youngwirth, and they were married March 2, 1962. Mike and Patsy had six children together and in 1973 chose to move them to a beautiful place called Bonners Ferry, where they raised their family.

After deciding to retire in 2005, Mike and Patsy moved to their home on the pond where she so loved to watch the wildlife. She had a deep passion for art.

Patsy loved her family with all her heart and family was her priority in life. Patsy always had a smile on her face and loved to make a friend out of a complete stranger. Her family loves and will miss her very much.

She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, Mike, children: Denise (Tom) Winey, Michelle (Scott) Gross, John (Deborah) Youngwirth, Linda (Lester) Perry, Deborah (Tony) Garcia, Steven (Sheila) Youngwirth, 15 grandchildren: Janelle (Kevin) Butigan, Kara Whiney, TJ (Jaime) Gross, Michael Gross and Melissa (Rocky) Kramer, Alana and Michael Youngwirth, Tony Shoppe, Jr., Austin Juppe, Ethan Perry, Ashley (Joey) Sanborn, Jeffrey, Nickolas and Paisa Garcia, Trevor Kobe stein, Tessa Youngwirth and seven great-grandchildren; Connor, Addison and Austin Butigan; Kylee, Kaya and Kola Kramer; Paisley Gross, Bryson Gross.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Clarinda Abeyta, her sister Reina Hedding and her brother Roger Abeyta.
