Sheila was born December 6, 1940 to Francis and Harriett Halverson. Born in Round Prairie, Idaho, she grew up with brothers Larry, Frank and Greg. She spent her childhood fishing the lakes and rivers with her Dad, attending a one room schoolhouse for her early education, and finishing her school years at Bonners Ferry High School.

She married Jerry Peterson on June 20, 1959. Their family grew to include Kim, Lisa and Jerry. It grew further to include John, Steve and Sarah as their children married. She retired in 2003. Sheila and Jerry also enjoyed their involvement with the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 4122 where she became a charter member of the Ladies Auxillary.

Her love of the outdoors continued all through her life. Sheila loved the beach with it's clamming and crabbing, loved to fish anywhere, and camped through all types of weather. As an adventurous gardener, she would find unusual things to plant. Sheila was also an accomplished seamstress. She was a strong woman with a warm and generous heart, a beautiful smile, and a slightly warped sense of humor.

Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 2003; her parents Francis and Harriett, and nieces Laura and Christina.
