North Idaho baseball team with BF players wins Idaho championship again, moves to regional play
August 2, 2014
The Idaho Little League state champions, with three members from Bonners Ferry, is once again playing for a spot in the Little League World Series. The North Idaho Little League team beat out Boise in the state championship held in Sandpoint on July 12th. This week the team, which boasts three players from Bonners Ferry, is playing in the regional tournament in Vancouver, Washington.

Baseball fans will recall that last year the Little League team from Bonners Ferry also won the Idaho state championship, and moved on to regional play, where they were stopped for the first time in their quest to play in the Little League World Series.

This year's regional tournament got off to a rough start for the North Idaho team with a 13-1 loss to Hawaii. Since that game, Bonners Ferry players Chris Sabin, Brady Bateman, Seth Bateman along with the rest of the team comprised of players from Sandpoint, have made North Idaho proud by beating Oregon on Wednesday 11-7, and Northern California on Friday 8-3, with Sabin and Brady Bateman responsible for a significant portion of the RBIs.

They next play Utah today at 6:00 p.m., and if they win that game there is a good chance they will be in the top four of the tournament, which pushes them into a two game tournament on Monday and Tuesday. The winner there moves on to Michigan for the Junior division of the Little League world series.
